The First #WCNV Chat

spotlight

Publishing is making efforts to bring equality to the industry. More and more books with diverse characters hit the shelves, but that seems to be where all attempts at change stops. Little consideration is given to diverse authors and their struggle to be heard. Thus #OwnVoices took a stand.

Limited lists of books with characters of color and Native people are not a myth, but instead a very real obstacle for non-white authors, one of many. The fight for #OwnVoices regarding race is a hard one.

The first #WCNV chat will give all non-white authors a chance to talk about that fight, about the struggles they’ve had in the industry, the positives steps seen toward fixing this issue, and the work that still needs to be done.

Join us July 12, 2016 on Twitter on the #WCNV thread at 12:00 pm EST to spotlight your fight to be heard.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the thread or to reach out to @WCNVcontest on twitter.
