This contest will feature query letters and the first 300 words of completed and polished manuscripts.
The entry window will be open until June 13, 2016 11:59 pm EASTERN time due to an extension.
During the entry window, submissions should be emailed to WCNVContest(at)gmail(dot)com. If you are unable to enter during the submission window, consider using an email scheduler like Letter Me Later. Entries sent before or after the entry window will not qualify.
There WILL be confirmation of your entry. If you do not receive it within 15 – 20 minutes of sending your entry–the server could get a little bogged down–please reach out to @WCNVcontest or @ElleOnWords on twitter.
Please follow the entry formatting below as this helps with posting the entries for the agent round.

In your own words, why is #OwnVoices so important:
Name: Real Name (Writing as [insert alias] if you are using a secret identity/pen name)
Genre: This includes age category as well as the genre. Age categories=PB, MG, YA, NA, Adult. Keep your genre picks simple. An easy way to do this is ask yourself: If my book was in a store, what would the sign on the shelf say? Fantasy, Contemporary, Sci-fi, Horror, Western, Thriller, etc.
Title: Your Story
Word Count: XX, 000. Round to the nearest thousandth.
Query Letter: Your basic query letter, but without any personalization. No need to address it to anyone or include any tidbits about any individual agents. However, there is one addition. Considering the nature of this contest, more information than what is normally included will be front and center. You MUST identify YOUR race(s), ethnicity(s), native nation(s). Your character DOES NOT count. Query letters must be single spaced with one line between paragraphs and NO indentations
First 300 words: Like the queries, entries must be single spaced with one line between paragraphs and NO indentations. See this post for a tip that might help you copy-paste without losing your formatting.
When sending the first 300 words: do not stop in the middle of a sentence. Continue to 305 words at most if necessary. If you have more than 305 words, you can either remove that sentence or find a few words to rearrange/cut.
